Then early 2004 I started trading my Ibanez guitars in for PRS guitars... I had slowly been losing fascination with the floating trems and thin necks. After spending a couple weeks playing nothing but my fiancee's (now wife's) late 70's Gibson Les Paul Pro, I had re-discovered the satisfaction of pounding away on mahogany-bodied maple-topped set-neck guitars. After getting hooked up with a PRS catalog and DVD, I took the plunge on a fixed-bridge Custom 24, which led to another, and another, until I had 16 PRSi occupying the racks.
Recently I’ve diversified the collection by selling a few PRSi and adding a few G&L’s (a Legacy & 3 ASAT's), a couple hollowbodies (Gretsch G6120 & Heritage H-535), a 7-string (EBMM John Petrucci model), a 12-string (Carvin DC120), and a few other random axes (Voodoo custom archtop, Danelectro 56-U3, Taylor Solidbody Classic, EBMM Steve Morse, & Hamer Eclipse) . It's definitely cool to have the variety for recording projects, although it's safe to say that I'll keep playing PRSi for most rehearsals & gigs.
